Today, Congressman Brian Jack (GA-03) visited LaGrange College to deliver an initial $1,883,050 federal investment through the U.S. Department of Education’s Strengthening Institutions Program.  The funding represents the first year of a five-year initiative expected to provide over $3 million in federal support for LaGrange College’s 21st Century Workforce Readiness Program.

Congressman Brian Jack said, “I am honored to deliver an initial $1.88 million federal investment in STEM education and workforce development at LaGrange College.  This funding will grow the Manufacturing Engineering Technology degree to prepare students for skills-based careers across our part of Georgia.  Earlier this year, I brought the U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon to our Congressional District to discuss the need for additional investment in workforce development, and I am grateful for her support of LaGrange College’s 21st Century Workforce Readiness Program.”

“Thank you to Dr. Susanna Baxter for your partnership, and thank you to Coach Wes Dodson for inviting me to visit your football team this afternoon!”

“We are grateful to Congressman Jack for his support of the College and his efforts to help secure this funding,” said Dr. Susanna L. Baxter President of LaGrange College.  “This investment will have a transformative impact on our students and our region.  We are committed to helping students discover meaningful career pathways, develop the skills employers need, and gain access to the kind of hands-on learning that leads to successful careers and strong communities.  This grant allows us to deepen that commitment for future generations of students.”

The funding will support the renovation and purchase of new equipment for LaGrange College’s advanced engineering and manufacturing laboratories, which will be repurposed to grow their Manufacturing Engineering Technology degree program.

During his visit, Congressman Jack also visited the LaGrange College Panthers Football Team practice.

Alongside Coach Wes Dodson, Congressman Jack presented the team with official copies of the Congressional Record, in which Congressman Jack recognized the Panthers on the Floor of the United States House of Representatives for their second consecutive victory in the “Clash of Highway 29” against rival Point University.
