AT&T and Compudopt provided the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes with 36 refurbished laptops to distribute to youth in their residential care program.
The computers, funded by an AT&T contribution, were given to youth at the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes’ five campuses across the state. The Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes was established to give Georgia’s most at-risk children the love, safety and stability needed to become mature, successful adults. It provides a safe, nurturing environment to help children who have been abandoned, neglected and abused.
“AT&T’s donation of laptops is an investment in the education and development of the young people who need it most. For the youth in our care, access to technology is more than a convenience, it’s a lifeline to academic achievement, personal growth and future independence,” said Terry Norris, Executive Director of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Association and Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes. “These laptops will provide our youth with the digital tools they need to grow into responsible, successful adults.”
“At the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes, we work every day to provide our youth with stability, opportunity, and hope. These laptops will help open doors that many have never had access to before,” said Sheriff Don Whitaker, President of the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes. “We appreciate AT&T’s partnership and their commitment to investing in the future of Georgia’s next generation.”
This effort is part of AT&T’s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.
“At AT&T, we know access to technology can change the course of a young person’s life. By collaborating with the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes, we are connecting more Georgians to greater possibility and creating pathways to lifelong success,” said Riley Blount, President, AT&T Georgia. “We are honored to support the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes and the incredible work they do to uplift Georgia youth and build brighter futures across the state.”
