The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) awarded a total of 23 projects in December 2024 including rehabilitation, resurfacing, bridge construction and safety improvements.

The largest investment, totaling approximately $90 million, is allocated for a rehabilitation project spanning 3.381 miles of widening and reconstruction on State Route (SR) 15, from south of Pinnacle Drive to Cathey Road in Rabun County. The second largest investment, valued at $4.5 million, will cover 3.690 miles of concrete rehabilitation on I-520/SR 415, extending from west of the SR 4 Overpass Bridge to east of the SR 56 Bridge in Richmond County. Together, these projects along with four others account for 60% of the awarded funds.

Approximately $58 million of the total awarded funds are allocated for 11 resurfacing projects. The largest of these is in Douglas County, covering 7.871 miles of milling and plant mix resurfacing on I-20/SR 402, stretching from east of the Liberty Road overpass to east of SR 5 overpass valued at $14.9 million. This project, along with ten other resurfacing projects, accounts for 32% of the awarded funds.

A single construction project, totaling nearly $8 million or 4% of the awarded funds, includes the construction of a 0.121-mile bridge and its approaches on SR 180 over Slaughter Creek in Union County.

Three percent of the awarded funds, approximately $4.5 million, are allocated for two bridge rehabilitation projects. The first, valued at $3 million, focuses on rehabilitating a bridge on I-16/SR 404 in Laurens County. The second project involves bridge rehabilitation at multiple locations in Chatham County.

The remaining 1% of the awarded funds, totaling $1.3 million, will support a safety improvement project. The largest safety project, valued at $863,000, includes 6.930 miles of resurfacing, signage, pavement marking upgrades, and shoulder rehabilitation on Bold Springs Road beginning at SR 81 and extending to SR 11 in Walton County. The second largest, at approximately $398,000, focuses on railroad signage and pavement marking upgrades at various crossings in Elbert, Franklin, and Hart counties. The final project valued at $68,695 will enhance signage and pavement markings on multiple county roads in Echols County.
