Georgia Historical Society Expands Access to Digital History Resources Through Today in Georgia History Widget & US250 Content
Tuesday, June 16th, 2026
The Georgia Historical Society (GHS) announced the expanded availability of free digital history resources designed to help educators, media outlets, cultural institutions, government agencies, tourism partners, libraries, and community organizations commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.
Organizations and individuals can now access and embed the Today in Georgia History (TIGH) widget directly on their websites while also downloading and sharing curated content developed as part of the Georgia Historical Society’s commemoration of the America 250.
Today in Georgia History is a joint collaboration between the Georgia Historical Society and Georgia Public Broadcasting, which produced television and radio segments highlighting significant people and events associated with particular days in Georgia’s history.
The original series ran daily from September 2011 through August 2012 across the state and are archived and available on the Today in Georgia History website. Thanks to the generous support of Georgia Power, the original 365 episodes have been refreshed and were re-released on GPB television and radio in August 2025 as part of the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The Today in Georgia History widget offers organizations an easy way to incorporate this comprehensive Georgia history onto websites, digital platforms, and in educational resources. Content is updated automatically each day.
In addition, GHS is making available a growing collection of US250 digital resources, including an online exhibit, articles by GHS historians, educational materials, and a digital version of the print publication, Georgia at the US250, developed to help communities, classrooms, and organizations explore Georgia’s role in the American story leading up to the nation’s 250th.
“The Georgia Historical Society is committed to ensuring that history is accessible, relevant, and available to audiences wherever they are,” said Dr. W. Todd Groce, President and CEO of the Georgia Historical Society. “By making these resources easily available for websites and digital platforms, we are offering the people and organizations of Georgia the tools they need to understand how the world we live in was created and build a better future.”
Organizations can access installation instructions, downloadable resources, and implementation guidance through the GHS US250 Resources page at georgiahistory.com/us250-
