Georgia Chamber Promotes May 19th Primary Participation Through May Matters Initiative
Monday, April 27th, 2026
The Georgia Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce its support of May Matters, a nonpartisan public education initiative focused on increasing awareness and participation in Georgia’s primary elections.
May Matters is designed to help Georgians better understand when primary elections occur, why they matter, and how to take part in the process. The initiative does not provide legal advice, conduct election administration, or engage in political advocacy.
Georgia’s primary election will take place on Tuesday, May 19, making voter awareness and engagement especially important in the weeks leading up to Election Day.
Chris Clark, President and CEO of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce said:
“Strong participation in primary elections is essential to ensuring that Georgia’s business climate remains competitive and representative of the communities it serves. Decisions made during primaries often shape the direction of policy and leadership long before the general election. When more Georgians are engaged early in the process, it leads to stronger outcomes for our economy and our state.”
Primary elections play a critical role in determining the candidates who will ultimately appear on the general election ballot. For Georgia’s business community, these elections can influence policies related to workforce development, economic growth, infrastructure, taxation, and regulatory stability.
A healthy business environment depends on predictability and leadership that reflects the priorities of Georgia’s communities. Encouraging greater awareness and participation in primary elections helps ensure that those priorities are clearly communicated and considered.
The Georgia Chamber encourages all eligible members and voters to learn more about primary elections and make a plan to participate in spreading awareness.
