Georgia Historical Society’s Georgia History Festival Continues with Family-Friendly Events
Monday, February 2nd, 2026
The Georgia Historical Society's (GHS) Georgia History Festival continues in February with a weekend of educational events for students and families in recognition of the founding of Georgia on February 12, 1733. Taking place on Saturday, February 7, and Sunday, February 8, 2026, the festivities begin with the Colonial Faire & Muster at Wormsloe State Historic Site. The weekend wraps up on February 8 with the statewide tradition of Super Museum Sunday.
On Saturday, February 7, and Sunday, February 8, 2026, GHS invites the public to Wormsloe State Historic Site from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for the Colonial Faire & Muster, a popular living-history event that brings eighteenth-century Georgia to life. Visitors can experience the sights and sounds of the colonial era through costumed interpreters, period demonstrations, and hands-on activities that explore daily life in Georgia’s earliest years.
Throughout the weekend, guests will enjoy historical cooking, craft, and military demonstrations, as well as music, dance, and storytelling inspired by the colonial period. This popular living-history program is free on Sunday, thanks to generous support from Hyundai, with additional support from the Society of Colonial Wars in the State of Georgia. Entrance fees apply on Saturday, offering families and visitors an accessible opportunity to step back in time and experience Georgia’s colonial past.
Sunday, February 8, 2026, is also the Georgia History Festival’s Super Museum Sunday, when visitors are invited to explore history, arts, and culture in communities throughout Georgia. More than 140 museums and historic sites across the state will open their doors free of charge. Attendees can experience Georgia’s rich history and cultural life as historic sites, house museums, art museums, and other points of interest welcome the public.
Super Museum Sunday is sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company and SouthState. To see a full listing of participating sites, visit georgiahistoryfestival.org.
The Georgia History Festival is the signature K-12 educational program of the Georgia Historical Society, reaching hundreds of thousands of students statewide. Beginning with the new school year in September, a variety of public programs, exhibits, events, and educational resources bring history to life for students of all ages and encourage Georgians to explore the richness of our state’s past. In addition to new online and in-person opportunities, the Festival includes popular annual events such as Constitution Day, Keynote Presentations, the Colonial Faire and Muster, Super Museum Sunday, the Georgia Day Expo, and the elegant Trustees Gala.
