SOS Raffensperger Continues Comprehensive Year-Round List Maintenance Audit

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Friday, September 26th, 2025

Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced the latest round of voter list maintenance efforts using data from the National Change of Address (NCOA) registry. These updates are a critical part of ensuring accurate voter rolls and that Georgia runs the cleanest elections in the entire country:

“Georgia leads the nation in election security and voter confidence because we take proactive steps to keep our voter rolls accurate,” said Raffensperger. “We follow state and federal law to make sure our voter list is up-to-date, fair, and secure, while ensuring that every eligible voter remains registered and able to cast their ballot.”

The most recent NCOA mailing identified the following voter records:

• 117,602 voters moving within their county. These records are automatically updated pursuant to Georgia law.

• 65,271 voters moving out of state. These records will be moved to inactive status if the voter does not respond to the mailed notice, pursuant to state and federal law.

• 80,754 voters moving out of county. These records will also be moved to inactive status if the voter does not respond, pursuant to state and federal law.

Voters who receive an NCOA mailing should respond promptly to ensure their registration reflects their current address. Voters can check and update their registration status online anytime at My Voter Page.

Georgia’s ongoing list maintenance is required by both state and federal law. It is designed to improve the accuracy of voter registration lists, reduce the potential for errors, and reenforce public confidence in Georgia’s elections.

“List maintenance is about election security and voter confidence,” Raffensperger said. “We want every Georgian to have full faith in the system, knowing that our elections are free, fair - and fast.”
