Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, October 3rd, 2019

The past two months, the Biblical History Center has added fresh, new tours and interactive family-friendly activities. For the past year, BHC board members have been in search for the fresh, new face that will oversee the museum day-to-day operations. They have finally found, and named, that person – Carlos Cantu.

Cantu is from Gainesville, Ga and brings a plethora of knowledge and skills having been in former positions with nationally accredited non-profit organizations. “My passion is supporting local communities through a variety of efforts that impact social and economic growth. My family and I are glad to be in Troup County and we look forward to making a positive stamp here at the Biblical History Center and the county at large,” said Cantu.

BHC Board Chair, Sally Dowland, notes the search committee felt confident Carlos was the person to lead BHC into the future. Dowland called out Cantu’s passion for the center’s mission, paired with his excellent leadership skills and strong financial background, made him a great fit.

While BHC has seen a growth in visitors over the past year, they seek to have more people understand their mission and what they offer Troup County. From tours to authentic biblical meals to homeschool days, the museum is known for quality programming. Cantu said, “All of these offerings are fantastic. BHC has done a lot of work in showcasing what we do. I believe our museum offers a unique, yet experiential encounter that one will always remember.”

Saturday, October 26th will be one of Cantu’s first events with the center when they host the state of Georgia’s first-ever Olive Festival. This is in partnership with the Georgia Olive Growers Association.

Cantu concluded, “I can’t wait to build upon the legacy that was started years ago. And I can’t wait to meet the great people in our county as they come experience what Biblical History Center is all about.”
