U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., applauded the president’s intent to nominate Kelley E. Currie of Georgia, to be ambassador at large for global women’s issues and to be U.S. representative on the Commission on the Status of Women at the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (UN).

“Ambassador Kelley Currie has served our country well as our representative to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and as acting deputy representative to the UN, and she will bring a wealth of knowledge to this new position as we seek to protect and empower women worldwide,” said Isakson, who is a member of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. “She previously served as deputy to UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, following her roles at the U.S. Department of State and human rights and humanitarian organizations. I am grateful for her continued service.”
