Georgia DOT Awards Contracts for Three Road Resurfacing Projects in West Central Region

The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced it awarded contracts for three road resurfacing projects in the West Central Georgia region on December 28, 2018.

The projects are:

  • Crawford County: the project involves resurfacing 14.25 miles of the roadway and shoulder on Georgia 42 from east of Giles Road to US 80/Georgia 22. The contract was awarded to Georgia Asphalt, Inc. for $3.6 million. It is anticipated that the project will be complete by the end of November, 2019.

  • Harris and Troup Counties: the project involves resurfacing 25.9 miles of roadway and shoulder on I-85/Georgia 403 from the Alabama State Line to Georgia 219. The contract was awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting Company, Inc. for $30.9 million. It is anticipated that the project will be complete by the end of November, 2019.

  • Henry and Rockdale Counties: the project involves resurfacing 14.86 miles of roadway on Georgia 155 from John Franklin Road to south of Panola Road. The contract was awarded to E. R. Snell Contractor, Inc. for 5 million. It is anticipated that the project will be complete by November, 2019.

The projects were three of 16 total construction projects contracted statewide in December. The contracted amount statewide totaled $79,665,278. The largest single investment in this group was the Harris and Troup County I-85/Georgia 403 resurfacing project. Resurfacing projects comprised 11 of the 16 total contracts, representing 82% of the awarded December funds, or $65 million.
